Dear Host Family:
I began using au pairs as a child care alternative many years ago. Being a single mom, I was constantly struggling with schedule conflicts between work and the needs of my children.
When I required time off from work for child related events, my boss grumbled and my stress level rose.
I had tried domestic nannies, but found many were expensive, not dependable, distracted by boyfriends, ignored my no smoking requests, and more. I worried about the safety of my children. Without notice, some would leave, and I would scramble again to find quality child care. Day care centers had waiting lists, plus my children did not receive the personal attention I wanted them to have.
Au pairs were a wonderful solution. It was legal, and I no longer had to submit forms for social security and taxes. Overall, I found my children responded better with someone living in my home. They viewed our au pairs as big sisters or brothers. Knowing someone was always home and available on snow days or sniffle days lessened my stress load.
My children and I thoroughly enjoyed the cultural exchange aspect of the au pair program. They still write and send photos to many of our au pairs. When my son did a family tree assignment for his class, he drew a large tree with branches that included au pairs and their countries as part of his family.
Au pairs enriched our lives. They shared their cultures with us. We ate new foods, listened to different music and learned about their countries' holidays and history.
I don't know any better way to tell you about this wonderful program except this: I left my corporate job to start an au pair agency so families like you could enjoy this enriching, colorful, nurturing and personal child care alternative.
Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions after browsing through our site.
